PDF Redirect

PDF ReDirect By Suhaib HaxOr

WHAT WE LIKE:
  • Print-menu-based PDF creation
  • PDF encryption
  • Merge function
PDF ReDirect works like CutePDF—you use the print feature on your application to generate the PDF—but it has many additional features that allow for tweaking. You can password-protect any PDF you create using 40-bit encryption (a $19.95 Professional upgrade boosts the security to 128 bits), and a quality-selection menu lets you scale the file size down at the cost of image quality. Another nice touch: The creation window offers a “PDF print preview,” which shows a thumbnail version of your PDF before creation, from which you can launch a full-size preview. You also get the choice of outputting content using the RGB or CMYK color scheme, an important option to have if your PDFs’ ultimate destination is a professional printer. PDF ReDirect also lets you merge multiple PDF files and specify the PDF-conversion engine you use. ((Open-source engines are available; you can also use Acrobat’s Distiller, if you own it.))
